Getting Linux on a broken Macbook Pro

I've adopted a (stepped on?) Macbook Pro with a broken screen, keyboard and trackpad. I'm going to attempt to create a housing for it to have a new life as a Linux based utility machine.

It might end up being a headless server, or perhaps a small HDMI screen will be added if it's used for something else.
